Abstract
Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli 1887-1943 yılları arasında yaşamış Azerbaycanlı çok yönlü bir aydındır. Kısa sayılabilecek ömrüne hukukçu, diplomat, gazeteci, folklor araştırmacılığı, hikâye, roman ve tiyatro yazarlığı gibi birbirinden farklı meslekleri sığdırabilen ve bunların hepsinde başarılı olan önemli bir şahsiyettir. Azerbaycan tarihi romancılığında önemli bir yeri olan Yusuf Vezirin hikâyeleri de devrinin panoramasını yansıtması bakımından önemlidir.
Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli’nin hikâyeciliği Azerbaycan’ın yaşadığı büyük siyasi ve toplumsal değişim açısından iki bölümde incelenebilir. Birinci bölümde Azerbaycan’ın Sovyet öncesi dönemindeki toplumsal hayatının panoraması verilir. Dönemin toplumsal problemleri, eksiklikleri, aksaklıkları realist bir üslupla okuyuculara sunulur. Bu dönem hikâyelerinde cehalet, kadınların içinde bulundukları sıkıntılar, sosyal eşitsizlik ve bunun doğurduğu problemler, toplumdaki cehaletten istifade eden kötü niyetli din adamları, hurafeler canlı tiplemeler etrafında ifşa edilir. İkinci bölümde ise Sovyet döneminin tesiriyle yeni düzeni över ve tanıtmaya çalışır. Yusuf Vezir’in Sovyet düzenine alışmaya ve sistemle barışmaya çalıştığı bu dönem hikâyelerinde konular daha çeşitli ama ideolojik zorlamalarla doludur. İlk dönemdeki üslup zenginliği bu dönemde görülmez. Sosyalist düzenin kuruluşu, hayat tarzı ve ahlak anlayışının anlatıldığı bu dönem, yazarın hikâyeciliğinde adeta bir duraklama dönemidir.
Yazımızda, Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli’nin Sovyet öncesi ve sonrası Azerbaycan toplumundaki sıradan insanların gündelik hayatını ve problemlerini ele aldığı hikâyelerini ve bu problemlerin hikâyelerdeki yansımalarını değerlendirmeye çalışacağız.

Abstract
Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli, who lived between 1887-1943, was a versatile Azerbaijani intellectual. He was a significant figure who has been able to fit different professions such as lawyer, diplomat, journalist, folklore researcher; story, novel, and play writer in his relatively short life, and succeeded in all. As a notable figure in Azerbaijani historical novel, Yusuf Vezir’s stories are also important for reflecting the panorama of his era.
The story writing of Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli can be examined in two periods with regards to the great political and social change that Azerbaijan has experienced. In the first period, a panorama of the social life of pre-Soviet Azerbaijan is given. The social problems, shortcomings and failures of the era are presented to the readers with realism. In the stories of this period, ignorance, the adversity women are in, social inequality and the problems it poses, malicious clergymen who take advantage of the ignorance of society, superstitions are revealed around the living types. In the second period, under the influence of the Soviet era, he praises and endeavors to promote the new system. The stories of Yusuf Vezir in this period of adapting to the Soviet order and trying to reconcile with the system are more diverse but filled with forced ideological elements. The stylistic richness of the first period is not seen in this period. This period, in which the establishment, lifestyle, and the ethics of the socialist order are told, is almost a period of stagnation in the author’s story writing.
In this paper, we will try to evaluate the stories of Yusuf Vezir Çemenzeminli that deal with the everyday life and problems of ordinary people in the pre-Soviet and post-Soviet Azerbaijani society, and the reflections of these problems in his stories.
